In a significant step towards fostering educational opportunities and community support, the Islamic Call University College (ICUC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Education Department of Tejwal Travel and Tourism. The partnership aims to extend vital educational and related services to the Sudanese community and refugees residing in Uganda.
A two-member delegation from Omdurman Islamic University, comprising Dr. Badreldeen Khalafallah and Dr. Madiha Mahdi, recently paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Idris to finalise the arrangements. During the visit, both parties discussed a range of mutually beneficial issues, including the potential to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at a later date. The MoU would formalise their collaboration and open avenues for ICUC to host lectures for Omdurman students residing in Uganda, among others.
The meeting was also attended by ICUC’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Muhammad Sendagi, and the International Relations Officer, who welcomed the partnership as a positive step towards fostering regional academic collaboration.
The examinations are scheduled to commence on 18th January and will run for a month. ICUC’s Gaddafi Mosque campus will serve as the venue, ensuring that students from Omdurman Islamic University can complete their academic requirements seamlessly.
This partnership underscores ICUC’s commitment to strengthening academic ties across borders and providing support to fellow institutions in the region. The university looks forward to furthering this collaboration to benefit students and enhance the quality of education in both Uganda and Sudan.
The MoU also marks the beginning of a series of programs and outreach activities targeting communities in Kampala and other regions with significant Sudanese and refugee populations.
Both parties affirmed their commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the agreed initiatives. The ceremony concluded with a sense of optimism and shared determination to create lasting positive change for the Sudanese and refugee communities in Uganda.
This partnership highlights ICUC’s unwavering dedication to its mission of transforming lives through education and its strategic approach to building alliances that make a meaningful impact.
