The Academic Registrar’s department derives its mandate from the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 (as amended). The department coordinates all academic matters of the University including admissions of students, undergraduate studies, the development and implementation of academic programmes and examinations. The Academic Registrar is the Secretary of Senate and its committees.
The office of the Academic Registrar is made up of the following divisions:
a) The Senate division.
b) The undergraduate Admissions and Records.
c) The Examinations and Transcript division.
d) Certificates and Ceremonies.

Duties and Responsibilities
The main functions of the Academic Registrar include the following:-
> Coordinating curriculum development for all academic programmes taught at the University.
> Coordinating the implementation of all academic policies and procedures approved by the University Governing Council on the recommendation of University Senate.
> Directing and coordinating the implementation of regulations governing students’ admissions for all programmes, by ensuring that all students admitted to the various academic programmes have the required qualifications.
> Overseeing the preparation of time tables for teaching and examinations in different faculties.
> Ensuring safe custody of all documents and data relating to admissions, examinations and all academic records.
> In charge of maintenance and development of student records.
> Responsible for production of academic transcripts and certificates.
> Responsible for planning and coordinating academic ceremonies such as graduation ceremonies.
> Organizing and coordinating the University Alumni.
> Providing secretarial services to the University Senate and its committees.
